Ever heard of pretty privilege? When conventionally attractive people have more going for them in life (make more money in their career, get promoted faster, are treated better by peers and strangers, thought to be smarter by others, etc.) and most people believe this is a real thing in life and people who fall short of pretty privilege experience negatives instead.
Well, LIB has probably confirmed pretty privilege as a thing. In each season, when attraction wasn’t met by both couples (one partner wasn’t attracted to the other) and upon seeing their type (who is of course conventionally attractive) the real issue is that looks matter and pretty privilege as a social construct rings true.
Previous seasons it was Jessica and Mark (Jessica finding Barnett her type), Shake and Deepti (Shake said looks matter and he wasn’t attracted to Deepti), Kyle and Shaina (it was never fully confirmed but we assume Shaina wasn’t into Kyle physically), Bartise and Nancy (especially when Bartise saw Raven, a conventionally attractive woman), and this season Zack and Irina (could be argued they both weren’t attracted but Irina made it more obvious and she was into Paul a conventionally attractive man) and possibly Kwame and Chelsea (especially after Kwame saw Micah and admitted he was very attracted to her).
So, if these couples had partners that were more conventionally attractive, would that have made a difference, even if they weren't 100% the other person's type as usual? Probably.
There are some YouTube videos about this too. Unless you think pretty privilege isn't a thing at all in society, seems like it would have changed things for the couples.
Guess Love isn’t blind after all.
