How are gay clubs/bars? What’s been your experience?

This goes for both the casual nonsexual locations and the sex clubs and steam rooms, how are they? Are the people generally nice? Are sex clubs really always unsanitary and badly maintained? Are gay bars worth the admission?

Also, any good karaoke places? I imagine karaoke is almost always occupied because from my experience gay people love to sing lol
