r/LonghornNation Weight Loss Challenge IV
Post Body

Welcome to the fourth annual LonghornNation Weight Loss Challenge!

In our fourth year, we'll continue our mission to further fat justice agendas across the globe, at least until we get skinny, at which point other, fatter people can worry about it.

The rules will be the same as they've been in the past:

  1. We will weigh in once on January 1st and post our weight to the tracking sheet, including an imgur link of your scale for proof. Be honest -- our community is growing so it's important we all continue above board this year so we can continue to focus on the positive aspects of the competition.

  2. Each Friday following we'll weigh in on the sheet again, no pictures required.

  3. The end of the competition will be the Orange & White Game, whose date is to-be-determined. Until then I've blown out the tracking sheet toward the end of April.

  4. Weight loss will be determined by %, not total pounds, so all manner of fatties are welcome.

  5. You have the option of paying -- if you're interested in contributing either $25 or $50, just DM me and I'll give you my Venmo. I hold the money until the end of the competition, then pay out in 3 tiers (1st, 2nd and 3rd) relative to the total pool.

  6. If you would like to participate but don't want to be a part of the pool, simply let me know and you won't be included in the prize pool but will still be included in the competition.

I'm sure there are more details required but I've probably forgotten them. For now, here is the link to the spreadsheet. Enter your username in Column A of the 2022 Weight Tracker tab, and bookmark the link for future entries.

If you are planning to participate, enter your name on the sheet and comment below! Happy to have all of you -- we have a lot of new parents and pandemic survivors who have some weight to lose and some fire under their ass, so LFG

Edit: wow the pot is already at $200 $400. Our demo has really done well for themselves since the first time we ran this.

Previously the way we handled donations was $25 got you into the pool, and other users could contribute $50 to encourage others to fatten the pot, but everyone has the same shot at the same pool. So donating $50 doesn't improve your prize directly, but encourages others to donate by growing the pot larger.

Does this still work for everyone? Or do we need separate Big Money and Little Money pools? The old way worked great, especially taking into account the range of age differences and cash flow, plus it's always nice to help out the youngsters in the event they wanna win it all.
