Anyone close the distance by moving to a third location?

Post Body

It's something SO and I have seriously talked about and I'm curious about other people's experiences. Basically my entire family lives in city A and are all extremely vocal that him moving here would be the best decision.

His family (and himself - he's still in school) live in City B which wouldn't be a good fit for either of us job wise due to our fields. I also don't particularly like the city or the surrounding area.

Some of my family is the type that would stop by or show up, or expect us to be available at random times at the drop of a hat. I have two much younger half sisters and my dad and stepmom are.... less than understanding about the fact that my life doesn't accommodate a dance recital with 24 hours notice or two weeks of Christmas break to do "family stuff." I feel as though it would only get worse with a significant other. It's already worse when he's visiting.

So in my opinion one of the serious options is moving to a third city that would be good for both our jobs and not have family to have to deal with. However, we would both be picking up and moving to that city at around the same time.

Has anyone ever done this before? What was your experience like?
