That is what my girlfriend and I say to each other, once we part, to go back to our countries - Sweden for me, Estonia for her. Makes it easier for us to part at the train/bus station.
We've been together for almost a year and three months at this point and I count myself so incredibly lucky to have her in my life. She helps me get better and improve myself, learn new things, and she motivates me on the daily. Sure, there are difficulties for both of us, but that comes with the territory, just need to support and reassure each other it's needed.
We met on Reddit, back in October 2023. I had made a post, she responded, and it didn't take a lot of days. In fact, it was just nine (9) days between us first starting to talk to each other and us starting our relationship. We were already acting as if we were in a relationship, so we went "What the hell, let's give it a shot!" and so... we did.
During 2024, we managed to meet five times, spending a total of about 3.5 months together in person. In those regards, we're incredibly lucky, being able to see each on the regular. Today, she went home, having spent a month with me, in my city.
Got to celebrate Christmas and New Year's together, play board games and video games, watch movies and TV shows, scream for our ice hockey team, be both quite silly and serious, and talk about everything and nothing. And got each other promise rings for Christmas.
We are 36 and 35, respectively, and don't really care if others would think it's for a teenagers. We wanted to have something to show that we are committed to each other, while not getting engaged. For us, that is too early. Say what you will about it, that's how it is for her and I.
Just wanted to write this somewhere, with people that understand. And remember; It's not goodbye, it's see you later!
