In his memoir, This Bright Future, Logic talks about a childhood friend he had who had the opposite life and trajectory of him. The friend came from a mid class environment, had a supporting family, and Logic was jealous of him and wish he could be him because he wanted what he had; but the friend hung out with the wrong crowd, made bad choices, and chose the street life, while Logic grinded, worked jobs, made music, and leveled up his life. I don’t remember the friend name though :( The story telling on Get High is so detailed and matching to the friend, that I thought maybe Logic is talking about the friend here? I wasn’t sure because there are some similarities but there is no confirming so I thought to read the lyrics to see if I can find anything. But now I’m even more lost because there is a section where the protagonist is said to have a fear of flying (which we know logic has, I think he said it in metropolis?) I mean I guess his friend could also have fear of flying? Or maybe the song is not about the friend at all? Or maybe the song is about the friend but logic is using some personal experiences in the verse for some reason? Who do you guys think the song is about?
