So we’ve been told this week in Ontario that we’re in the second wave and it has the potential to be as bad as the first. Let’s go with this and say this is true...
Back during the start of the pandemic, a hospital close to me built this massive temporary COVID specific hospital that never saw one patient... the article is here from about a month ago. Burlington COVID Tent
Ok, so after months of the pandemic and the medical world and public trying to learn fast to understand this virus, it never saw a single patient. Amazing news.
But now, moving into October I’m seeing the media and politicians already saying there won’t be enough hospital space. How do they know this? If we didn’t use this amazing resource back during the initial pandemic, what makes them think we’re going to run out of space already when current hospitalizations are lower by a massive number compared to when we re-opened the economy here in Ontario back in June?
I guess what I’m getting at here, is how come we aren’t looking at the past to gain an idea of the future? It seems like again, the political world and media are treating this virus like they did in March and it’s all brand new again? This isn’t a new ‘second wave’ virus. This is the same virus isn’t it?
Thoughts?
