Hello and thank you!
I am looking for advice choosing audio equipment for a new program at a high school tech center. I want to give the students as close to a professional experience as possible at a decent price point. The school did not give me a budget. Students will be producing audio for different types of videos and for podcasts as well, and shooting with Panasonic mirrorless cameras. I also want have gear for live-streaming situations.
I'm thinking,
Rode Wireless Go - It seems good enough. I've used the Rode Wireless Filmmaker kit for a few years and have never had a problem, so getting a few wireless go packs seems like a good option. The only reason I'd consider the Wireless Filmmaker kit is for the locking lav connector. Pro Sony or Sennheiser lavs don't seem worth the cost for teaching.
Sennheiser MKE 600 - It seems like the go to for entry level booms. It makes sense to get some of these with poles and accessories. Can also be used with the Zoom H6 for podcasting. Either recording to the zoom or as an audio interface, right?
I'm not sure if I should get on camera mics as well. Are they really necessary? I'm thinking about maybe the rode videomic ntg because it can also be a USB mic and I might find other uses for it.
Zoom H6 - I've used a tascam dr 60d for a long time and think it's great, but I don't want to deal with external battery packs. I've always liked the H6 and it looks like there's a price drop on a older version. I think it's probably the best option because it the most versatile, can be used on set, for podcasts, as an interface, or as a basic mixer for live-streaming via the stereo out.
I know I'll have to get enough cables and probably several 1/8" to xls adapters. I'm wondering what else I might be missing.
I appreciate any advice and thanks for reading!
