Daif the Graceful Blade

Role: Duelist/ Carry/ Melee

Background

Appearance:

A tall bald woman stands leaning against a blade the same height as her. Her figure is wiry wrapped in leather patched and repatched repeatedly. Her limbs are long and thin like willow branches. Her blade is pure shimmering quicksilver rippling with her breath and sprouting from an orb encasing her hands, anyone with enough muscle can wield a solid greatsword but the grace required to dance with a liquid greatsword is a different skill entirely.

Lore:

Legends tell of a knight of old, pure honourable and hardy enough to survive Noxus with honour intact. They say she was graceful too, a true master of her weapons, so skilled with sword and shield she could wield weapons of liquid metal. How true this really was is hard to say, by the time she enters our story she is old and sits by a pool of silvery liquid telling two girls to dip their hands in and keep trying until they can pull out her old weapons.

One girl, our vaillant hero, is the lady of an old Noxian family, too far down the birth chart for anyone to bother keeping track of. The other, our soon to be revealed villain was some gutter rat with more aspirations than was right.

Still it came down to those two, after many had tried only to be taken by fumes. It was decided there would be a tournament. But the night before, raiders broke into the caves where the mercury pooled. The brave night slew their leader but she could not stand long, and when our hero leapt to fight off the rest of the invaders, our villain tried to steal what was rightfully hers.

The old knight did not survive, and neither nearly did our hero. Out from under the bodies she knew she had to make sure this never happened again.

Abilities

P Grey Grace

Flavor description

Daif’s basic attacks are modified, she has a low attack speed and extended windup, but her greatsword swings deal additional damage in a cone in front of her which also hits her main target.

Her base attack range is 200, but she gains 25% Bonus attack and ability range for 6s after hitting an enemy champion with an ability, hitting a new champion stacks the effect and resets the duration.

Flavor description

Daif stabs her greatsword forward, dealing physical damage in a line, and impaling the first target hit if they are a champion, for up to 3s while they remain in Daifs attack range. While impaled the target takes physical damage over time.

Daif may activate this ability a second time to vault over her target, landing at her maximum attack range on the opposite side of her target and repeating the physical damage along a line between them.

Daif may attack to pull out her sword.

W Vapour Waltz

Flavor description

Daif dashes in target direction, if she passes through an enemy champion or large monster she stops, releasing a burst of vapours around the two of them in an area that scales with her attack range for 4s or until she leaves.

While in the fumes enemy units have healing effects on them delayed until they leave or the effect ends, and take a % of their missing health as damage each second. Enemies that die in the fumes heal Daif for a portion of their maximum health and any delayed healing they missed out on.

Flavor description

Daif enhances her next sword swing or stab, enemies hit are knocked back slightly, take additional damage and receive a heavy decaying slow for 2s. Each enemy hit reduces the cooldown of this ability by 2s.

R By The Power

Flavor description

Daif raises her blade to the sky for up to 3s. Each second she has it raised a lightning bolt strikes it empowering her.

When she releases her blade she spins around once for each lightning bolt that hit her. Each spin deals physical damage to all enemies hit and bonus % Max health magic damage. Spins also reduce enemies maximum health by the same % for 6s.

If she hits at least one enemy champion with her ult, she then enters a frenzy for 6s. While frenzied, damaging enemy champions four times will make her next basic attack another spin that can reset her frenzy.
