The Debate #1: Atmosphere
"Thereโs No Noise Like The Anfield Noise"
It's often said that Anfield has an atmosphere like nowhere else. It is undebatable that on certain nights, Anfield comes alive and acts as the twelfth man. It's also fair to say that for certain games and certain stands, that the atmosphere can be... lacklustre. Nothing sums up the quiet days in Anfield than a midday kickoff against a mid to lower league team.
There are loads of touch points that are factors in this, here are some starting points for discussion:
- All-seater stadiums
- Hard to get tickets
- Hard to sit with mates
- No drinking in stands
- Local tickets
- Touts
- Growing global fanbase
- Sky fucking sports
- Ageing season ticket holder base
- Season tickets waiting list closed
- Early kick-offs
- Team performance
- Rivalry against the opponent
- Competition being played
There are hundreds of possible factors that could contribute, these are just a few broad and generalised topics that came to mind - each with their own discussions, pros and cons.
The question of this thread is :
How can the atmosphere, match-to-match be improved at Anfield?
