Hello, everyone. We're getting closer 50k subscribers and recently passed 48,000 subscribers (yay!) On average, we are getting about 80,000 page views every day. This much traffic can make it hard for our small group of mods to catch everything. We're looking to change that by adding to our team of dedicated moderators. /u/SylvieK has recently joined the mod team, welcome! she's been fantastic in the short time she's been here. We are now looking for people to join our team that are able to cover a bigger range of time zones.
We have mods in the UK and over in the US but this still leaves plenty of time zones that we currently do not cover. So we're looking for 1 GMT and 2 non USA/GMT time zone mods to join our team and it could be you!. Before you rush into anything, let's have a look at what would be asked of you.
What does a moderator do?
You will be expected to do the following actively. Note that "actively" typically means for multiple hours a day. Most mod actions can be done via multitasking and do not require your complete attention, so for example if you're working a desk job that allows you to glance over at Reddit and our mod chat every so often, that's perfect. We don't have any specific minimum activity requirements aside from "do it as much as you can or is necessary", but we will not keep moderators around that do not have the time to contribute.
Moderators...
- are extremely familiar with the subreddit rules, Reddit's rules, reddiquette, and moddiquette.
- regularly check the front page of /r/Liverpoolfc and make sure all threads are within the rules.
- moderate /r/Liverpoolfc/new and remove rule-breaking threads.
- browse comments and remove ones that break the rules.
- respond to user inquiries about removals and decisions.
- participate in mod group chat on 'telegram'.
Moderators do not...
- make unilateral decisions when it comes to removals and making policy changes.
- use the position as a platform for projecting your opinions, either by posting them in an official setting or removing things contrary to your beliefs.
- use the position for monetary gain.
- engage in any behaviour that may otherwise break moddiquette.
- promote the spread of drama.
Am I eligible?
To get the right person for the job, we need to have a set criteria for who is eligible and will help add to the team.
Looking for someone who:
- is in the required time zone(s) (Non USA / only 1 GMT).
- has a minimum of 200 post and 500 comment karma on the sub (You may be asked to prove this).
- is an active, respectful and helpful in the community and this subreddit.
- has reddit css coding experience - helpful but not a requirement.
- has reddit markdown knowledge - helpful but not a requirement.
- is available to check the sub regularly to keep an eye on new posts and sort the posts on matchdays.
- can deal with all issues in a relatable, mature and professional manner
- doesn't take everything too seriously and can judge situations well.
- has good attention to detail.
- is fluent in English and/or can speak their mind in an appropriate, comprehensive manner (in English).
- is often online and typically available.
- is able to take part in 3rd party app mod group chat.
Not looking for:
- Content creators - moderating will only get in the way of important users who add so much to this sub
- "Sub Celeb" - this is not a celebrity contest and we are only looking for the right people for the job. Team players who share our desire to help the community.
- Known trolls.
- Frequent violators of the rules.
- Power-moderators looking for another sub to add to their list.
- Strictly low-effort posters.
- In a position to potentially have a conflict of interest.
To apply, please fill out this google form.
Applications are closed - You have until 11 pm (GMT) Thursday 9th February 2017 to get your applications in.
All responses will be kept 100% private within the mod team. Once the deadline is passed we will evaluate all entries and make a decision in the coming weeks (depending on a number of applications). If successful, we will PM you with the offer of joining the team. Once the transfer has been finalised and all the paperwork processed, we will make an announcement on the sub.
Please note that there will be a probation period of 4 weeks for any successful applicants. This will help ease you into the role and we can assess how you've done once the period is up. We need this to be a good fit for all parties so this probation period is also to give you time to decide if you want to do it.
We will not accept applications made via comments or modmail.
