Hello prospective new citizens, and welcome to Little Latvia. I am Ave3ng3d7x, Patriarch and Diplomatist of Little Latvia. If you are new here, you may find yourself asking, "What do I do now?"
First off, you'll need a place to rest your head. Thankfully, there are plenty of opportunities for you to do just that!
Right in the middle of town you'll find the grand Riga Hotel. The bottom two floors of the hotel have 9 rooms where you can stay for free. If you are looking for a bit more room for you and your things, pay a few iron and you can rent out the two luxury suites or the spacious two-story Penthouse.
If the hotel isn't your thing, you could get yourself a large room in the Liberty Apartment Tower. Each of the 14 apartments has more than enough room for anything you might need.
If you're looking for more permanent lodgings, and you want to put your footprint on the map of Little Latvia, message /u/NightmareSplody about buying a plot for land. Land in Riga is currently limited, but more plots are to be added soon.
Once you're settled in, there are a multitude of things you could do to help out around town. You'll even be payed for some of them (maybe)!
You can request to be signed up for one of these projects here: http://www.reddit.com/r/LittleLatvia/comments/2fp8bv/september_project_sign_up/.
To put in your request, just leave a comment saying which project you'd like to assist with.
In addition to these "structured" jobs, citizens are encouraged to exercise their right to free enterprise by opening a stall in the /u/TheUberGuestUser's Bazaar if so inclined. Just contact him here on reddit.
Land is very limited in the area around Riga, so to remedy this, Latvian Citizens and trusted foreigners (ex. /u/peakman2) are welcome to buy a homestead in the vast western plains where they can use the extra space for anything they need. If you are interested in purchasing a homestead, contact /u/Nightmaresplody.
Government Info
Little Latvia is Governed by three councilors which are elected by popular vote or appointed by the Patriarch if the population is too low to facilitate a proper election.
Diplomatist- /u/Ave3ng3d7x
The Diplomatist serves as Little Latvia's representative to foreign nations and acts as an intermediary between foreign and domestic powers.
Vaditajs- /u/Nightmaresplody
The Vaditajs is perhaps best described as the city manager/planner. The Vaditajs handles the day-to-day activities of the town, as well as being responsible for land sales and the construction of government facilities.
Meistar- /u/SugarJugToasterYolk
The Meistar serves as the town judge and tax collector.
Taxes
At the end of October and every month following, Landowners in LL will be required to pay taxes. Don't worry, the rates are quite modest, and you can pay your taxes in advance. When the time comes, just drop off your dues in the hopper located inside the hall of justice.
Little Latvia and the U3P
Little Latvia is a full-status member of the United Provinces of the Plus Plus, and as such has two seats in the U3P senate. Senators are appointed by the Patriarch and are recommended to be players that are experienced in interacting with the other member states. Senators are also required to have a mumble account so they can take part in mumble conferences.
Little Latvia is not only a member of the U3P, but also it's official home. At the U3P headquarters in Northern Riga you can find wander's xp exchange, where you can exchange gathered materials for experience, which can then be sold abroad.
Churchill
Churchill is our neighbor and Twin city. It is, for the moment, largely unoccupied. This, however, does not give us the right to encroach upon their territory. Churchill is not a protectorate of Little Latvia and no Latvians or otherwise are allowed to build on their land without the expressed consent of /u/Jchabbs. Their farms are free to use, as long as they are replanted.
