Hey ya’ll. I know this sub is mostly dead because LFE has been done for a little while but when you guys post your judgements, you have to remember that it was a different time back then to now. The term “latchkey kid” popped up in the 70/80’s. So pretty much shortly before Elena started having kids. Women had just started joining the work place as more than just secretaries. As much as I think she was the villain of the show, being a working mom of 4 wasn’t an easy feat.
Also, all the stuff with the Pearl and the Ryan’s. The first successful surrogacy was in 1985 but the bible talks about about handmaidens who are fertile and carry babies for other women. At that time, I think it’s safe to assume surrogacy and IVF *weren’t as prevalent and accessible as they were today. Also, there’s still a stigma associated with infertility and IVF for women still TODAY.
