Is there a political subreddit that's less about "breaking news," but offers comprehensive, encyclopedia-like explanations of recent and current events?

I like to be in-the-know politically, but I think I'm spending way too much time reading different spins of major headlines to come to a conclusion. I also think that the political subreddits that I'm subscribed to only really cover major news, making me aware that I'm not aware of a bunch of current policy, the direction the country is going in several areas, and, importantly, what the President is up to.

Does anyone have any good recommendations? I don't know enough about topics like the Middle East, our representatives in Congress, or our economic policy since the 90's to really contribute anything to a new sub...
