A couple days out from surgery. I have felt little to no pain at all. Its been easily managed by my medication (Norco for pain and Mobic for inflammation). I got the nerve block, and it lingered for about 3 days, I suspect that played a huge role in my general comfort. Swelling hasn’t been too terrible, although I have been fairly aggressive with icing (30 min on 30 min off). Ive been able to use my scooter around the house, with no pain, for limited times. I still get absolutely exhausted fairly easy. I got 13 screws and 2 plates in my foot. I had a shattered cuboid, broken metatarsal and completely dislocated lis franc.
I’m a 22yo woman who has never had an accident like this let alone surgery in her life. This injury I sustained happened out of state, and I had to have the surgery out of state without my family as well (workers comp). So my stress levels were and have been pretty high. I say all this to say, what should I expect moving forward from this? Will the pain come soon? Am I out of the ball park?! I feel lucky but also weirded out by how smooth this process has been so far.
Also, I lurked this thread for a LONG time prior to surgery. There’s a lot of terrible stories, and not nearly enough normal ones. I hope to keep y’all updated..
