No surgery, then surgery
Post Body

Did anyone try the no surgery route and then end up having surgery anyways? If so, love to hear your results. Sorry for the long post, but this is my story.

I had 4 fractures back in August from a high impact fall from 8 feet - 1st and 2nd metatarsal, cuboid, and cuneiform, all 5 toes dislocated, and lisfranc injury. Spent 2 months in a boot, non weight bearing. Then 1 month weight bearing.

Talked to 2 podiatrists (both are surgeons) and both recommended to try no surgery and if things don’t get better with PT then I can elect to have surgery.

My pain level is 0-1 not doing any activity.

Walking short distances is 2-5. Don’t feel like I can walk long distances.

I can’t balance on my bad foot or single leg heel raises.

I walk with a limp and have done 20 days of PT. My hip hurts on my bad foot side on occasion from compensating. Also I have a hard time walking with my foot straight, it wants to kick out to the side and I have to consciously force it straight.

All this to say surgery is looking more and more possible, but hoping I didn’t do it too late. Both dr’s claim it wouldn’t have mattered if I did it right away or waited.
