I decided to check this one out since I remembered Gigguk talked about it one of his video. And I'm glad I picked this up. I thoroughly enjoyed all the episodes.
However, more often than not, what excited me is more about the underlying time travel mechanism in this series rather than the drama itself. Don't get me wrong, the drama is superb, but somehow my brain just get hooked much more on the time travel mechanism itself. It's especially important when the antagonist was introduced in last 3 episodes. Like can we guess who is the person, how his(?) ability works, and what's their limitation? Are they also fall under the same rule what CXS/LG has? (12hr limit, clapping hands, no changing the past)
So there are 3 things about the mechanism that bother me: 1) the conciousness, 2) the memory, and 3) the physical ability of the person being overriden by CXS.
On Physical ability: It seems during CXS override their body, their physical ability is being adjusted by CXS; and by extension all the physical ability of CXS is being carried over to the person overriden, as well as being learnt by CXS from the person.
Some examples/ commentaries on those accounts:
- Chen Xiao, the backup basketball player, performed so well in the basketball match due to CXS is a basketball player.
- CXS in Chen Xiao body had blurry vision when the glasses was worn. Weirdly, his commentary was kinda... wrong? A normal vision person wouldn't have a blurry vision if they wear myopia glasses. But if that's a hyperopia glasses, he would indeed get a blurry vision.
- Dou dou, the kidnapped 5 y.o boy, can uppercut the middle-aged trafficker until her tooth came out. Just how strong he can override the muscle strength of a 5 y.o boy?
- CXS in Xu Shan Shan body somehow can stop the knife attack of the assaulter. But what actually happened in the past where CXS didn't intervene?
On memory gathering/mixing:
- CXS could recall what Chen Xiao mother did during his boyhood. This implies he could gather the memory of the person being overriden. But how far (in term of time) they can recall these memories of the overriden person? Can CXS also have the knowledge of the people the overriden person know too?
- What happened when CXS leaves their body? wouldn't their memory get mixed on what CXS did and what actually happened without his intervention?
On psychological/physiological response:
- CXS can feel the sorrow/ light-headedness/ heart-throbbing moment of the person he currently possessed (as seen on Emma, Chen Xiao, Dou Dou, and Xu Shan Shan). This kinda implies the overriden person's psychological/physiological tampers CXS'?
Also regarding Lu Guang ability:
- It seems he can no longer see what happened after Liu Min swing his knife on Xu Shan Shan, why is that? What's the untold limitation of his ability?
Anyway, it seems there's lots of questions unanswered still by the end of episode 11 with respect to the time travel mechanism in the series. It gets a bit frustrating when trying to guess what's the other time leaper ability is all about. How he'd work, and what is the limitation (i.e. For CXS, he can't self-leap if both of his hands are restrained)
Any thoughts? Did I get some of the facts wrong?
