The reservation never really had its own police system⌠it was simply the us government keeping soldiers around the area in case the Indians resisted the white ranchers, miners, and loggers from taking the land.
It was a decent system to establish authority for the last century and now those tribal people have the rights same as any us citizen. Still, the towns people didnât like them. And it was the same on their side; understandably.
Regardless, you were the authority of town and that âliving historical sightâ as you might put it. The common joke around the office was that anytime an Indian caused trouble, the bets were placed on if alcohol was involved.
Your jail was full of âem. That dirt poor reservation didnât have a single job outside of governments hands. It was clear that lack of structure from the beginning was what brought about the trouble and crimes, and yet you were a man of grit. The âAmerican dreamâ you held to didnât have much time for excuses. No excuses for any of those people to not have a decent living by now.
But while you may never considered yourself as racist, there was something about stepping onto the tribe that made you look down a bit on these peopleâŚ.
If it wasnât for one in particular, youâd have no good thing to say about them. But while most were trouble, at least this woman in particular could give you the view to make up for itâŚ
And thatâs what made you smile as you drove to that beat up trailer park on the reservation. You knew her address by heart by now and stepped out of your vehicle with a slight grin. The tall, matured white man in his sunglasses and cowboy hat.
It was another neighbor complaint. She was on thin ice like always and couldnât stay out of trouble if she tried. Truly a product of her environment.
Sheâs had a warrant out for her arrest for some time now⌠a little car theft never hurt nobody. You got it back without much trouble and kept this over her head ever since.
The lack of checks and balances in this sundown town was interesting to say the least, but you kept order when you could and allowed a little disorder when you wanted.
You stepped into the porch with a few ideas in your mind⌠reminiscing of the last few times she caused a house visit from the lawâŚ
There was the time you found her growing over the limit of weed plants⌠you drove her to a cliff and hit boxed to the sunset after she rode you in the backseatâŚ
She was a truly wild Indian and you had her number saved as âpocahontasâ, â dream catcherâ, or some other pun, slur, or nickname depending on the mood.
There was also that time you found her fighting a woman leaving a party⌠she chose to have her hands cuffed and her legs spread over your vehicle hood in order to not end up In the local cellâŚ
Sometimes another officer would end up bringing her in in cuffs and youâd have to write out some paperwork to get her free before she could get transferred to out of town.
Admittedly you would be bored if she ever went away for too long⌠ofc no one like her would be as fun to spend time with in your office/ or her jail cell.
There were so many fun memories and you honestly deserve to be fired for this, but as of yet, you wear the badge. That white msn despised by the natives and the one that knows Minas body like the back of his hand.
She was the one good thing about this damned reservation and town. The one native that knew that white men werenât so bad if you knew how to deal with them.
You knocked on her door, with your usual distinct knock before calling me to the door in my language. Opening it as you heard my footsteps near and properly waiting for me to hide whatever evidence I had to hide.
We met eyes. Mine brown and big with that daring look of both naughty and innocent. Standing in my biker shorts and white tube top that lazily held my breasts in⌠the subtle poking of my nipples through the fabric, and my messy long black hair was in a bun. Brown skin with a reddish hue, the home smelling of sage, marijuana, and the perfume I wore.
âBack so soonâ I said feigning surprise and waiting to hear what bs you were going to throw at me this timeâŚ
