I was nervous. My mom is the biggest worrier in the world, and nothing I did ever seemed to ease her concerns. Despite the fact that I was in college, she still didn’t trust me enough to leave me in the house alone for a weekend. I was an adult. Instead, she decided to hire someone to look after things. Though she called it a “house keeper,” it was clear that I would have to obey this person’s rules and do whatever they said.
To my horror, when I opened the door, I saw you standing there. You, my bully. You always humiliated me and teased me relentlessly. You would call me a lesbian even though I’m clearly straight. You’d give me wedgies and perform all the classic bully troupes. You were the meanest girl in school, and for some reason, you hated me simply because I was a total nerd.
