One year ago today, Sam's entire world was ripped to shreds. Her beautiful, brilliant daughter was kidnapped, raped and murdered. A perfect flower stomped into the dirt. The police wouldn't even let Sam see her after it happened. She had to identify her from a polaroid of a birthmark.
Perhaps the maniac responsible was caught shortly afterwards. Sam sat in the court room, staring at him, hearing all the evidence and finally seeing photos of what he had done.
