TLDR - Didn’t like rap, listened to We Think Too Much, changed my entire perspective on not just rap but music in general. So what’s your story?
——————————————————————
I looked it up and the last post about this was 4 months ago and I wanna talk about my first time hearing peep cuz it kinda changed music for me and music means a lot cuz I have bpd and use it as an emotional regulator… and I’m sad and want someone to talk to lmao (feel free to dm if you want to just talk or whatever. I’ve been smoking so we’re chilling. Anyone got helldivers 2 tho? 😝😝😝)
I grew up listening to punk, emo, and pop punk, stuff like that lol
I knew a lot of guys in my school were getting into rap more in like 2016-2018 and most of the stuff at the time that was mainstream sounded… “annoying” to my brain. Idk what my taste in music is but if it doesn’t sound good to me it doesn’t lol. I was a lil autistic nerd so I just listened to my few artists and nothing else lmao. Never really liked Kendrick and had a hard time getting into a lot of X’s stuff, was like that for most stuff until I heard peep
Anyways. I was 17, it was 2019. I was entering peak sad boy era, mom had just died. (Now in my peak sad girl era) I listened to that “thoughts that go like bullets through you” song.
“We Think Too Much” was in the auto play next so I said fuck it and listened to it and was expecting something that’d have a really harsh voice and be overwhelming (cuz the name lil peep)… but it ended up being slow, and sad sounding, and beautiful…
After that I listened to all the peep songs that were on Spotify at the time. I’ve never had an artist who I like EVERY song with. Peep is still that one person who has never missed for me. Got into X, Trippie Red, $uicideBoy$, later on I got into Childish Gambino, lots of stuff that I’m not gonna sit here and list lol. Also got me deeper into punk, emo, and hip hop culture, I’m basically who I am because lil peep. Half my personality is stuff I did with my friends listening to his music and half of it is oneyplays loool
Now I’m wearing the Live Forever hoodie from his website and waiting for a poster of him to come for my wall - he brings out the fan girl in me 😭
So yeah, I’m sad and bored, just wanted to talk about this cuz Peep kinda made my taste in music (and me in general) what it is/what I am today
