I have a basement room with poor lighting and a bunch of deeper garage shelving units lining the walls. Most of the shelves are storage, but some contain some displays of models. I want to light these display shelves, as now it's hard to see what I want to display since what little ceiling light there is, is blocked by the shelves above.
I have nearby outlets, and slightly prefer plugged in, but am ok with battery solutions, the display lights will be on very rarely.
I'd like to get the color and detail as true as possible, to show off the subtle details and painting well. I do NOT need colored light at all. I don't need smart integration. I'm fine with hand turning stuff on and off when needed, it doesn't need to be phone controllable or on one easy switch.
I'm comfortable soldering and working with electronics.
For right now I only need one shelf, which is 36 wide by 18 inches deep. Eventually maybe another?
I was thinking of doing a white 6000k high cri led strip around the top, with a curved diffuser. I'm willing to take other suggestions, like sticking round lights to the top of the shelf, or angling a lamp in from across the way, or whatever else you might suggest I don't know about
For the strips I started looking into details of cob vs led strips and the specifics of which lights had what temp and cri and anti flicker without paying for things I didn't need started to become hard to determine what is the best for my case. And I was gonna circle the whole top with the curved diffuser, unless only front light is better even when diffused?
Also, for these sort of led kits is it cheap to just cut the strip and buy another power module to do a different shelf? Is that something you can even find, or do you basically have to buy another kit to get the supply/ switch.
Like I said, willing to solder mix and matched stuff if it's better/cheaper, just don't know enough to pick out the right stuff.
Willing to Amazon or specialty sites, but I avoid aliExpress/temu/etc
Here's some of the first things I googled but didn't get the full specs for to know if it's perfect or if there's better out there. Y'all are the experts!
