It isnāt until you stop carrying your phone that you realize how much it is ingrained into life.
Yesterday, I want to pick up my son at a friendās house. Iād never been there and wanted to do it without the phone. Halfway there, the main road was closed and I had no idea how to get where I was going (I donāt drive much). Didnāt bring the phone, had to use my brain. I liked it.
Today, I am traveling for work. That means Uber for starts and then a plane ticket. I could print the ticket but canāt use Uber with a dumb phone. I decided to swap SIM for workās sake. Needed the phone for OKTA verification. Needed to send my wife a picture of an update (neededā¦ could have not done it) and a few other things that popped up.
Iām cool with all that. I think that the smart phone has its place and the dumb phone can have itās. Once I get to my destination (and use it again for Uber), all I āneedā is text and calling and Iāll try the LP again.
What I marvel at is how required the phone becomes. My wife cannot sign into work without 2 factor authentication which requires an app on her phone. What else will I discover while playing cave man?
