Newbie to Liga MX. Who's my team.
Post Body

I know. This thread has been done before (probably, I didn't search) and how she's one just choose a team without having any real connection (truthfully, you can't), but...

My wife doesn't care for soccer (or fútbol if you prefer) and we have a deal that while I can't just sit and watch soccer all the time she'll tolerate it - and more importantly give me control of the TV - if I limit my viewing to "my" teams. We've just moved houses and due to a limited cable company the EPL is no longer available to me, but Liga MX is. So it's time for me to find a team.

Currently my teams are NE Revolution (season ticket holder), US Nats, and Stoke City in England.

What am I looking for in a team?

-I pride myself on being unfashionable (see Stoke fandom) -I prefer hard-working and blue-collar to flashy playing styles (if you're familiar with Stoke, I actually preferred Pulis to Hughes) -I've always felt that in order for rooting for a team to be worthwhile it has to involve at least a little effort (meaning it's no fun rooting for Barca or a similarly dominant team) -I have fond memories of sitting in my bedroom as a child and fiddling with the rabbit ears until I could get a picture from channel 27 which was Univision and for some reason the team I associate with these memories is Cruz Azul.

Based on the above who seems best suited for me? I've thought about Cruz Azul because of childhood memories or Atlas (long history with few trophies seems to hit the effort requirement from above) but we watched Morelia/Santos Laguna last night and my wife liked the Morelia uniforms and anything to placate her is a bonus. I haven't watched enough to know which teams might have a playing style that I'd enjoy (1-0 is usually more appealing to me than 4-3). We're both trying to learn Spanish so I'm hoping to get her in with some television en español once a week.

I'd be happy for anyone to try and sell me on a team. I know you can't just choose a team and have it become "yours" but give me a season of watching each week and I'll either here to love them or hate them (and try somebody new next season).
