By starting a sentence when writing or speaking with "To be honest" or "honestly," etc. it makes me wonder if every other sentence you utter without this clarification at the beginning is untruthful. Usually people use this lead in for emphasis or to move a conversation forward into a new point or focus area- "To be frank" or "To the point" are much better substitutes when drilling down. Avoid the silent judgement of others and eliminate this filler with a new phrase or just take a beat and collect your thoughts.
