LPT: If you have tire sets for winter and non winter, keep one of them in your trunk as a full size spare.

I happened to have my off season tires still in my trunk when I had a flat which turned out to be a good thing because they are a much better spare tire than a beany little donut spare tire. Also, check your spare tire pressure every time you top up your tires with air. A neglected donut can become so depressurized that the bead will fail to seat when you try to pump it up. A can of tire sealant can cram some goo into the bead and get it to seat though.
