Houses equipped with a kitchen that are rentals almost never have sharp knives! At the last house we rented out with two other families, I confidently pulled out the largest kitchen knife and ran it across my skin (edit:lightly across my palm for dramatic effect, I might be stupid, but not crazy). I do not recommend this, but I was 100% confident it was going to be dull. I brought my chef's choice sharpener and quickly saved the day (in the most dad way possible). The bonus is, they will be sharp for the next travellers!
Rental kitchens often have dull knives, so bringing a sharpener can save the day. Plus, you'll be helping future guests too. It’s a handy tool to pack, especially if you’re planning to cook a lot great tip!
