LPT: Double-sided tape is a great cat scratching deterrent

Specifically, we put it on the bedroom door and frame/trim where the scratch marks were, and we instantly had a much more peaceful night of sleep without the scratching every few hours. It lasted about 2 months before needing to be replaced (due to the cat hair).
