Anyone else just incredibly impressed with Venigni's backstory and plot? Lies of P has some absolutely terrific NPCs, but for me, it wasn't hard to pick a favorite. I started out really rolling my eyes at this guy. An aristocrat that got in over his head and needed to be saved? An absolute coward that couldn't fight for his own life? But then, with each reveal of his character, he became more endearing, and more of a quality person. At first I found his bragging to be annoying, but as I came to understand that he really IS that guy, I found his bragging to be really on point! Like "Yes, I really am that brilliant. You can close your mouth now, you're attracting flies!"
Even the Batman thing he has going for him really worked, especially as much as he loved Pulcinella. Other characters with that sort of relationship would lean more on the master being incompetent and taking credit from the servant, but by the end of the game it's clear that they're really more partners than anything else. It's even endearing how Pulcinella pretends to be a regular puppet out of deference for someone that he reveres and admires beyond anyone or anything else!
Just stand out work across the board. Wonderful stuff.
