I loved the game, right up until the very end. After spending weeks and likely a dozen or more hours in the final boss, I had to throw in the towel and admit the game beat me.
I went through all my items. I respecc'd until respecing again would just take too long. I tried every weapon and accessory combo that felt viable. I watched videos. I read guides. And I just couldn't do it.
I un-installed the game and watched a YouTube video of the ending cinematic. On one hand, I regret it. I really wanted to beat the game. But on the other hand, it is such a relief to be done with that boss.
I'm a die-hard Souls fan. I love the genre. I've gotten frustrated at bosses many times. But this is the first time a game's ever really made me give up, and RIGHT before the finishline. For those of you who beat the game, you have my respect.
I'm doing the same (albeit much earlier in the game than you) but I wouldn't say mine is a rage quit, more of a 'I just can't be bothered with this any more' quit. There's lots to love about this game, not least the setting, but the combat just doesn't work for me in a way that makes me want to keep trying over and over and over. I've had my fun and because I got the game on gamepass I don't feel the need to finish it just because I spent money on it. Instead, I'll move on to others in my library. Sorry to hear you got as far as you did and couldn't get over the finishing line :(
