Let me start by saying that our special library does not have an effective and well-maintained periodical section. They’re just shelves that practically serve as a place to store some journals donated to us.
Now going to my question, I’ve noticed that we have some journals/periodicals that were cataloged as books and shelved in our general reference section. I can be open to this practice but is this really an accepted practice in other libraries? Literally just curious. And then how does one draw the line? Like how would you determine that a certain journal is for the periodical section or for the general reference section? (The inconsistency and lack of systematic process in our library is driving me nuts rn)
Thanks!
