Anyone else have a floating collection?
Post Body

We are switching to a floating collection soon and I’m not excited about that.

We’ve put a lot of work into book repairs and making sure our series are complete at our branch. Other branches don’t. Now we are going to end up with hundreds/thousands of unkempt books and our sets are going to be janky.

They also made us move our non-fiction beginning readers back to the J non-fiction section even though they circulate much better in the beginning reader section, since the other branches don’t do it our way.

I know exactly where specific books are, now we’ll have unknown books in our collection and known books will be gone off our shelves.

I’m also worried our shelves are going to be overflowing. We are the busiest branch, sometimes surpassing the main branch, without nearly as much shelf space.

Is a floating collection worth it? Am I worried over nothing?
