I consider myself a centrist slightly left leaning. And im speaking on behalf of pretty much every centrist out there.

Both the left and the right have this view of centrism that is completely made up and Id like to debunk.

The first major topic is Racism and Hate Speeh.

No real centrist advocates that they are a good thing. They dont like it and legally discriminating based on race should be wrong. Hate speech sucks and ideslly wed be in a world where we all love eachother.

However, you cannot when it comes to hate speech draw a line on what is legally accepted speech. Once you draw that line, it starts moving. Until less and less things are arbitrarily acceptable. Not because of social movements, but because the strong and wealthy use it to oppress those below them.

Once you have that moving line, its only a matter of time until it either becomes the current position of the middle east or the french revolution. Drawing a line on whats legally acceptable to say will inevitably lead to those results given time and thats a fact.

You could say "well we will put laws in place to prevent that." Well we (as Americans im speaking for) had an entire country founded on regulated capitalism and look where that got us.

This does not mean you can be free from private or personal consequences. Those who wish to unemploy or kick people out of an establishment due to being racist are free to do so.

The statement "I want to kill -insert minority" vs "I want to kill -previous group mentioned" are no better than eachother if no crime has been committed. My view on legal punishment is different than most (in favor of a better legal system but also harsher punishments with reform) but you cant just go around punishing people for views you disagree with if they havent actually done anything wrong and this goes for ALL parties.

Again, no real centrist is sayig "racism is good", its more like "hate speech is a necessary evil if you dont want fascist oligarchs".

The next major topic is choosing sides. Nobody should have to choose sides. Just because two major parties are available doesnt mean if one is wrong the other is correct.

There are two sides to every story. Your side, my side, and the truth. And that goes for almost all opposing ideologies. Utopian ideologies dont exist because humans are at their base nature flawed and cannot create them. There will always be legal and social issues, just a scope of how grand.

The last major topic is that you can be an oppressed race and advocate for a better life, purely at the expense of another race. Ethnic minorities in the united states are factly at less of an advantage than whites. But looking for better lives at the expense of another and not through better systems is racist.

The phrase "-ethnic minority- power" is by nature racist. Wanting to have more power in a society is strictly because you want to have more influence over others. The phrase "-ethnic minority- lives matter" is not racist and more accurate but unfortunately gets misused as a lot of social movements tend to misuse things from their origin.

But those aee the major points i wanted to bring up. People seem to think youre an idiot for not being on one of the polarized sides of the scale, and I hope to better youe knowledge of the topic.
