I had a thought about the donation of your organs for helping others...and spun it in a Libertarian/Anarchist point of view. Here's my idea:

You place a value on your organs that you wish to donate. A legal representative helps you out here and perhaps you have counsel with someone who is familiar with the "organ marketplace." Here is what I see the benefits being:

• More people will sell their organs than the amount that currently donate
• While the quality may be lower (drug abusers, for example), there will be more of a market. Lower quality organs means cheaper. A buyer would obviously require biographic information about the seller, including things like blood type and family history to disease.
• The seller will choose the recipient of the money, and I believe a lot of sellers will give 100% to a charity.
• Prices will be lower with more people in the market-place.
• Waiting lists will essentially vanish. On the flip side, if fewer people are donating (not likely, because donation is now an incentive), prices would rise. Even though this means there are fewer organs on the market, it becomes a "will my insurance cover this?" instead of "how long do I have to wait, if I'm going to get one at all?" question.
• Charities will obviously benefit.
  
• The poor will hugely benefit: their organs are worth just as much as anybody else's.
