I was recently posting on another sub where I was heavily downvoted for saying that Libertarians support the rights of the LBGTQ community. And I was struggling to figure out why people would argue with that. Somebody defined it as “republicans who want to smoke weed.” My guess is that people use the word only in the economical sense, completely ignoring the social policies that go along with being Libertarian. I also think that there are a lot of republicans now that not fiscally conservative so the word “libertarian” gets associated with the Republicans who are. So, do you think to the general masses the meaning of libertarian has been lost?
