❶ 孩子与家长之间没有正常的情感纽带。孩子的情绪被忽视，甚至被要求去为别人的情绪作牺牲。这种情况下，孩子很难学会如何理解和处理自己的情绪。
❷ 家长不会为自己引发的伤害负责。因此，亲子关系的裂痕永远不会得到修复。而且，孩子会误认为自己和自己的情绪并不重要，也很难有信心去维护自己的权利。
❸ 习得性无助。家长没有教会孩子如何发现和解决问题会导致习得性无助，无法离开虐待性的环境也会造成习得性无助。习得性无助会让孩子在面对今后的人生困难时无所适从。
❹ 成长环境过于严肃没有快乐可言。这会导致孩子很难放松自己、享受生活。
❺ 被迫长大。这会导致孩子过早地去处理成人的问题，却无法学会处理自己在情感上受到的伤害。也会让孩子很容易处于被迫为别人负责的状态。
❻ 不允许犯错。错误是学习的一部分，不允许犯错会使得孩子无法正常做事，不断拖延，并对任何批评都充满恐惧。
即使没有极端的虐待，错误的育儿方式也可能会给孩子带来深重的伤害。
