I am 18 years old and drive an ‘02 Lexus ES300 with about 230k miles on it. Unfortunately I got this car and suddenly began struggling with fuel:air problems which ran the o2 sensor and CAT system to dirt. Got them replaced as well as the alternator (alternator for fun). Problem is that my father advises me that the car is likely on its last stretch of life. He is not an expert on cars at all, in fact he knows pretty little about them. But he’s very stubborn and didn’t want me to buy it in the first place. I never got the fuel:air figured out because I didn’t trust a mechanic diagnosis but I may have no choice as of now. I need a daily driver asap to get me to work about 15-20 miles away everyday. I will be making loads and will be able to buy a new car soon…but I might need my Lexus for 20,000 more miles. Might it be worth the repair? The car is old but fortunately the fuel:air is all that’s REALLY wrong with it, but I don’t wanna repair an engine that’s ready to die. Feedback? Thoughts?
