I guess the moment has come: what are the chances for non-EU Master students with a Visa Type "D" and unable to speak NL/FR to get a job in Belgium after graduation? What are the visa-wise regulations applicable to student jobs, internships, part-time jobs and full-jobs? Thanks!

Post Body

Hey guys, I'd like to share with you my story: master student here, I've postponed my thesis submission for 6 months, which means that after the end of classes (May) I could go back to my country and take my final exams online and later submit my thesis online as well, however, the current Covid-19 situation in my home country is terrible (one of the worst worlwide) and every week someone I know dies, which is why I wouldn't really want to go back yet.

In this regard, my ideal plan would be to stay in Belgium until Jan 22' while doing my thesis and defending it, and also while giving myself the chance to enjoy a little bit the country, since -being 100% honest with you- I have not been able to have a very good time here so far, but I have the feeling that after summer things will get better. Advantages about my current situation: due to the fact that I officially postponed my thesis submission&defense, I am able to extend my Visa Type "D" until Jan 22ยด without a problem; disadvantages about my current situation: since I did not plan to stay longer here, I don't have enough money to cover my expenses until Jan 22ยด, which means that I would need to have a job to earn money every month.

So, what do you think would be my options? I guess I could do an internship within my academic/professional field, but I could also work in a student job or a full-time job, like a cashier or such, right? In fact, from what I've heard, I think I'd make more money by working as a cashier or so that as an intern, right? At the end, my aim would be to make as much money as possible to survive decently until Jan 22'. However, woud that be legal? Could I work 8 hours a day, with a Visa Type "D"? I guess not? Therefore, my only option would be doing an internship? Is that allowed with a Visa Type "D"? From what I remember, with a Visa Type "D" you can only work up to 20 hours a week OR making /- 400eur a month, right? I wouldn't be able to survive with that amount of money. Is there any other option available to earn more? Could I apply for a full-time job with a Visa Type "D"?

Btw, I'm a lawyer. Thanks!
