I got to “oh, Caroline” and immediately wanted to hear the album again. There’s one song on the album wherein there are no lyrics, just instrumentals, and I remember I ended the album shocked because other than when I’ve listened to The Beatles, there have never been so many times wherein I paused while listening to an album and thought to myself, “Wow. I wasn’t even alive back then, but I feel like I get how this song changed the course of musical history.”

I think the first time I ever heard a Beach Boys song, I just thought of them as being a typical cheery-song pop band, but listening to “Pet Sounds” made me realize how unique they were and that they were doing things that were far ahead of their time. This would be a great album to play during summer.
