For example, I have started listening to more 1960s music recently and - as someone who grew up listening to a lot of 1980s music due to my mother having been born in the 1970s - I have recently realized that I feel that there was actually a lot of 60s inspiration in more mainstream 80s music. It wasn’t something I was hearing until I started listening to more 1960s songs, though.
In the same way that fashion is cyclical, I’m Sure that it’s quite common for people to take inspiration from decades they grew up in/decades of the past when creating music of their own.
So are there any decades wherein you feel like musicians of the time took a lot of inspiration from past decades - in the way I can “hear” 60s in the 80s music?
