TLDR: didn't wrap the present and txted ger where it was. Also wife says dinner was just a meal, not date. Wife says I'm not romantic and is a bit disappointed.
Edit for spelling
It was our one year anniversary a couple days ago. I had already booked a weekend stay at the beach for the following weekend where I planned our main celebration.
I got her a dash cam for our anniversary. She got a new car within the last yr and many of my gifts have been centered around equipping it. I didn't have enough wrapping paper to wrap it and worked long hours. Didn't remember to pick any up. Kinda forgot about it. On our anniversary she txted me that my gift would arrive the next day. I txted her her gift was in the closet and pertained to her car. She's short and had to get a stool to reach it.
Before I came home from work, I asked her if she would like to go out to dinner or save it for the beach. My wife wanted to go out. I left work earlier than normal to be home for our date. I picked the place and my meal was good but hers was mediocre. The drinks were good. Still, I thought it nice because we have a kid and very rarely go out alone.
When we left the 5 asked if I wanted to go anywhere else. Since I was driving I didn't want to go to a bar. She agreed to drink at home.
Last night, she told me I am not a romantic and don't know how to be. That I should have made our meal, which I thought was a date, more of a date. I asked her what and she told me I should have come up with it. She also brought up the present not being wrapped and having to use a stool.
She said she was okay with me and my lack of romance because she's been without it for so long and is used to it. She still seemed a little let down though.
This isnt a deal breaker but I dont want to disappoint her. I also want to do better at the beach. What can I do to be more romantic? She isn't very athletic so my idea of walking was a non starter. We often txt each other sweet things and are affectionate.
