Performance profiles make no sense

I usually run my 5i 11400H and RTX3060 in balanced mode, I thought for the first time lets use performance mode when coupled up to my external 1440p 165hz monitor playing BF2042.
I saw a nice 10fps bump in performance on average, but something very odd happened the fans got quieter, temps looked fine CPU never went past 85rc and GPU for the most part was 82c at peaks.
So why is balanced mode making my fans work harder, temps didnt look much different?
