Yoga 7i 14" USB-C alt mode broken - can't do 4k 60Hz

Hi all,

there's already a post on the Lenovo forums about this but I thought I'd post here for more reach in case someone has a solution / as a PSA for anyone considering this laptop.

Basically this laptop refuses to run 4k60 over a standard USB-C to Displayport/HDMI cable. It's stuck at 4k30 and in some cases keeps coming up with "USB device not recognized" messages. This seems to be a recurring issue with the Tiger Lake chipsets if you search online.

Buying a Thunderbolt dock apparently 'solves' this (I don't even know where to begin to check for compatibility), but paying $150 is ridiculous for an already expensive laptop. If someone has a working 4k60 or similar high bandwidth setup via USB-C alt mode please do post the cable you're using and the drivers.
