Paid Work w/ Leica?
Post Body

Hey all, I have a question about anyoneā€™s general experience getting paid work using a Leica system. Iā€™ve been prompted to ask this after years of working behind the camera in film and seeing photographers come in to shoot stills. When I work fashion/skincare/hair product jobs, Canon is almost exclusively the brand of choice (unless itā€™s super high-end shoot in which case theyā€™re using a Phase One). For BTS photographers, the Sony Mirrorless are the only cameras I see. Occasionally Iā€™ll see a medium format Fuji for some product/branded shoots, but not too often. And Iā€™ll see film cameras (35mm, polaroid, and medium format) for more stylized fashion shots (thereā€™s almost always a digital photographer on set too). Never have I seen a Leica on a paid job.

So Iā€™m just curious, what has everyoneā€™s experience been like using a Leica for work? Is it a secondary camera? Is it only ā€œacceptedā€ for certain types of jobs? (Also, if you do have experience itā€™d be great to know what youā€™re using for reference- body, typical focal lengths, etc.) and what type of job(s) (freelancing, for a specific company, types of shoots, etc). I donā€™t want this to turn into an argument about whatā€™s good/bad for what. Just want to know what experiences people have had!
