Working through major sort, blocked up by SNOT

Post Body

Currently working through a decent sized sort and while i've made pretty good progress with the basic blocks (mostly sorting by color/element, separating out where there's enough mass to justify) i have come to a standstill trying to figure out how to move forward with all the "other" pieces -- how have y'all handled that?

i have no idea exactly how many bricks i'm working through, let's just say it's over 40 years and 4 kids worth (with this big kid being the start of the obsession) , and at least 10-15 medium moving boxes worth, plus another full of duplo (which will likely stay in said moving box until there's grandchildren)

i've gone through tom's guide, and that sent me down the color/element path - but man, the mental block over what to do with all the detail pieces is just stopping me.. as it is i've got a mix of various akro mills drawers and a decent amount of scrapbooking 'suitcases' (clear storage things i picked up from michaels some time back that have 16 removable clear boxes in them) -- goal here is to have an area for moc building (have a few sets that stay assembled, but even as a kid i was always more of a build "new" stuff philosophy)

help? :)
