I found this today in East Tennessee, in a creek I’ve found artifacts in before. My question would be is this a discoid?

I understand that, however aren’t cores usually perfectly round? I’m no geologist but I’ve seen a few hundred drill cores and none look remotely like this

I thought it was a drill core at first, it’s definitely not perfectly round. I have no clue what it is

Yes, hundreds of cores. They are all over the dumps in my area. I like rocks so I always check em out and pick up a couple. However, this one was found in an ancient river bed in the Norris River Basin many miles from civilization and the only things I’ve ever found in that area is fossilized Lepidodendron and lithic artifacts. Not that it being a core sample is out of the realm of possibility but doesn’t resemble any of the cores I’ve seen.
