My 9 yr old son was given an initial diagnosis last night as having LCP. Heโs playing football and has been having ongoing pain in his hip, so we took him to the ER and after an X-ray, the ER doc gave this diagnosis. We will be following up with a pediatric orthopedist soon.
Our primary question is, in the interim, can he use his own pain level as a guide for how much activity he does? Or is there a risk of him causing some significant damage by continuing to be active when he is NOT in pain?
Of course Iโd never allow any sport or activity to continue if it put him at risk, but heโs a 9 yr old boy that lives for football season and if he can safely do skill drills or play for a short period of time and then go to the sidelines when he gets uncomfortable, then we want to consider that opportunity.
