My dad passed away 18 months ago, and for the last couple of years of his life he was living at his girlfriend's house, and she took great care of him as he battled cancer for which we're eternally grateful.
I'm the legal administrator of his estate and due to a number of logistical reasons (Covid lockdowns, distance, transport etc), myself and my siblings were unable to get to her house and clear out his belongings. She started selling things off (which is fine as that was the plan anyway) and has gathered a few ÂŁK in cash from this.
The original plan was that she would transfer the funds to me to be distributed amongst her and my siblings (plan is that everything is shared equally among siblings with some put aside for her). She then asked to keep it all as a loan to start a business and that she'll pay us back when she's making money. We said no and she's now saying that she'll take legal advice to see if she has a right to keep all the funds.
Any idea where we/she stand leagally on this? Does either party have a legal claim to those funds? Any advice appreciated.
