What happens after Probate is granted?

Hi,

Can anyone provide me with information on what happens after probate is granted? My late grandfather passed away about a year ago and his wife passed all responsibility to the solicitor to act as the executor. I’ve searched on the probate registry and can see it was recently granted. I’ve requested a copy of the will which should confirm I am a beneficiary (this was briefly confirmed in the very short conversation I had with the solicitor earlier this year) but as i’m not an executor i’m led to believe I shouldn’t expect updates. He didn’t own any property both in or outside of the UK so whilst I wouldn’t want to naively assume all will be simple is there an approximate timescale for the solicitor to notify beneficiaries of the estate? Are they obliged to within a certain period of time?

Any help is appreciated
