Do family law solicitors give impartial advice?

Post Body

I live in England & i'm considering seeing a family law solicitor shortly regarding an ongoing issue with my son's mum and maybe looking at going for full custody or at least having some formal child attachment order drawn up. I spoke to The CAB a few months ago and the lady put me off a bit with regards to solicitors. She said you can have half an hour free from most solicitors but beware as they are touting for business. Is this generally how they work? I would just like some advice without feeling pressurised into anything.
